That’s right! Our classroom was erupting with fun this week – from the volcano art above to baking soda/vinegar explosions; from dinosaur terrariums to games that go, “POP!”; from one-of-a-kind t-shirts to some of our favorite toys, we are making the most of these last few weeks together!

Around the classroom there are some things that go with our dinosaur theme, but also lots of things that the kids have requested we bring back one more time. The fire station, marble dispensers, and fishing game are great examples of the latter.

We kept the texture table the same this week, but replaced the magna-tiles at the light table with our Wedge-it builders.

At the water tub the kids rescued dinosaurs trapped in ice for a couple of days and then we brought back the giant pitchers and water beads – some of their favorite water tub accessories 🙂

At the building table, the robot builders were replaced with our cool road map and cars.

The creation station had some new options and they disappear just about as fast as we put them out!

We only have a few more days with sweet Coco and Scarlet. They will stay at home during our last week of school, so we’re making sure to give them lots of love!

Here are a few more photos of things that were out around the room:

Our parent volunteer activities were also a combination of thematic and traditional end-of-the-year projects. On Monday the kids made the volcanoes seen above in our “featured image”. They drew and cut their own volcano shapes, added some dinosaurs, and then spooned paint (lava) onto their paper. Using a straw, they blew the lava so that it looked like their volcano was erupting. These are out in our hallway for everyone to enjoy.

Our other activity Monday was mixing baking soda/vinegar volcanoes. This just never gets old!

On Tuesday the kids made little dinosaur terrariums that they brought home.

They also learned to play “Perfection” (we called it the popping game). All of them were able to easily beat the timer, but they loved letting the time run out and being startled when the game board POPPED up and their pieces went flying. We kept this out all week.

Wednesday and Thursday we did one of our favorite older class end-of-the-year activities: making t-shirts for Field Day. Everyone got to draw a picture on a white t-shirt. We’ll send these home next week and hope that everyone will wear them on Field Day, June 3!

The kids learned how to play “Go Fish” on Wednesday.

On Thursday they played a letter/sound recognition game called, JUMP! We played it again during our group time. See if your child can explain it to you :).

During our time together at the carpet we’ve been enjoying stories about Mr. Putter and Tabby. We also learned a new song in Yoruba, read an ABC book about superheroes, played a shape game, and did our Lettercise song.

And here are some pictures from our time out on the playground!

We will leave the dinosaurs behind for our last days together, in favor of the beach and fun in the sun! We are treasuring every minute and can hardly stand the thought of saying good bye. We love our time with you and your children!!

We’ll see you Tuesday,

Lisa & Jelena
